Serial Killer On The Run For 24 Years Arrested. He Targeted Cab Drivers

A serial killer who targeted cab drivers and sold off their vehicles has landed in the police net after 24 years. The Delhi Police crime branch has arrested Ajay Lamba, who was wanted in four murder-cum-robbery cases. Lamba and his accomplices would hire taxis and travel to Uttarakhand. The cab would be smuggled across the border and sold in Nepal.Police suspect that Ajay Lamba and his gang members could be involved in more killings. Of the four victims, only one cab driver's body was recovered. Two of Lamba's gang members were arrested earlier.Lamba, 48, is from Delhi and dropped out of school in Class 6. He later moved to Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh and tied up with Dhirendra and Dilip Negi for the chilling murders of cab drivers."The accused, a notorious robber-cum-murderer, was involved in four brutal robbery-cum-murder cases targeting cab drivers across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand during the year 2001.

You'd Think Taxicabs Were Glamorous: Cold Start - The Autopian

Wait! No! Don’t buy this thing below! I know that cab buyers thought they were getting a new-and-improved version of the bulletproof Dodge Dart but listen to the voice from fifty years in the future! It’s a piece of crap! Most recalled car in history! These lavish-looking brochures for very non-lavish cars continued into the 2000s, if only in PDF form and not physically printed books. I know this because I found sales literature for our very own Nissan cab from a decade ago when it was, for about ten minutes, a clean and spanking new object and not the 375,000 mile shell of itself that it is now, plying across the country. So going to a Nissan NV will get five acres of space back to Manhattan? Assuming that’s compared to a city full of beloved Crown Vic cabs? If so this “five acres” isn’t in a useable parcel that you could sell for tens of millions so it’s kind of deceiving.I do like that the cab has “germ fighting seats”! I mentioned this to Jason, who somberly informed me “the germs had won.” This might be true about that battle, but the war to reach California is still going strong! To be fair, you could eat off the floor of our current cab but you’d die.

Cab (song) - Wikipedia

"Cab" is a song written and recorded by the American rock band, Train. It was released in November 2005 as the lead single from the band's fourth studio album, For Me, It's You, and was produced by Brendan O'Brien. It peaked higher on the charts than the two other radio singles from the album, ... When I heard the very first demo of "Cab," I knew that it was a great song – and an important song. Brandon can lay out the whole band in both his hands, which is a great instrument for a super-versatile and distinct vocalist like Pat to sing over.According to Train's lead singer and frontman Pat Monahan, "Cab" and "All I Ever Wanted" were the first two songs written for the album. When I was writing the lyrics to 'Cab' it was the winter and I was staying at this place in Pennsylvania, looking out the window and just being really lonely. It was lonely as I had ever been during the day.And so I just pictured being the only cab in Manhattan.Monahan has likened "Cab" to being "the metaphoric song on the album".

'What kind of mafia...': Netizen rants over cab, auto chaos in Bengaluru; leaves users divided - BusinessToday

He also called out the state government for banning bike taxis, a lifesaver for commuters in the infamous Bangalore traffic. A social media user recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his chaotic experience of trying to book a ride in Bangalore. The user claimed that he was trying to book a cab or an auto for the past 30 minutes through app-based ride-hailing services like Ola and Uber."Bangalore is an absolute shithole of a city. I’ve been trying to book a cab or an auto for the last 30 damn minutes—nothing. Now these unions have decided to ban Uber and Ola too. First, they banned bike taxis, and now this? What kind of mafia nonsense is this?"I resonate this pain man! Have been struggling so much... Within a second of requesting for a ride, it shows options for Tips. And now no cab/auto accepts the ride without that," a second user wrote."Pure city ko gaali dene ki toh baat nahi thi isme," a third user said. "Booked a cab. Got enlightenment instead.

Cab Card Explained: What Truck Drivers Need to Know

A cab card is proof of registration and compliance with requirements for commercial trucks, required for legal interstate operation. A cab card is an essential document for commercial trucks that makes sure they follow federal and state rules. It shows proof of registration, allowing commercial vehicles to legally drive across states or Canadian provinces. The cab card confirms that your registration is valid and shows where you’re allowed to drive. It includes details like the vehicle identification number (VIN), registered weight, and which places you can operate in.Commercial vehicles weighing over 26,000 pounds that drive across state or provincial lines, including into Canada, need a cab card. This rule makes sure all vehicles are properly registered and follow necessary rules, covering many types of vehicles like commercial trucks, buses, and trailers.Different vehicle types have different requirements. For example, flatbed trucks need oversized/overweight permits in addition to their cab card when carrying extra-large loads. Household goods movers face special challenges because they travel various routes with multiple stops.

The 375,000 Mile Taxi That Everyone Thought Was Dead Drove All The Way From NYC To LA, Bitches - The Autopian

Again, I did not drive at full ... which somehow refused to quit, and, I suppose, all of the work put into this miserable little basket case of a cab by Stephen Walter Gossin, David Tracy, Andy King, and yes, even me.... Again, I did not drive at full breakneck speed onto one of those huge gravel ramps used to slow down trucks, and that is part of why this story is such a tale of triumph, but only a tiny, infinitesimal part. The real reason is this incredible taxi itself, which somehow refused to quit, and, I suppose, all of the work put into this miserable little basket case of a cab by Stephen Walter Gossin, David Tracy, Andy King, and yes, even me.When we left off last time in Denver, and everyone at the meetup was pretty apprehensive about the cab’s ability to make it over the Rocky Mountains, which are, to be fair, pretty steep. They are mountains, after all, and rocky ones a that, and that presents two significant challenges, which we’ll call up and down.Oh but before we left Denver, we did remember to finally check the cabin air filter. This cab was a worker, all its life.

We Really Should Have Had A More Autopian Diesel Cab For Our Taxi Adventure: Cold Start - The Autopian

The idea of taking a New York City cab with 375,000 miles on the clock for a cross-country road trip is a very Autopian idea. Those are Manhattan taxi miles, so in Normal Car terms that’s like 2 million on the odometer. However, the Nissan making the journey isn’t the most Autopian cab, is it? I wouldn’t doubt that the diesel offered great fuel mileage, but a noisy 82 horsepower engine in place of a big gas six or V8 wasn’t something cab drivers liked, especially when gasoline was 35 cents a gallon. After the gas crunches of the seventies, the idea of a diesel cab started to look more attractive. Diesel cab stalwart Mercedes-Benz was not about to sully their name here in America with service cars, and their prices were far too high anyway. Bit player and long-time diesel car maker Peugeot was willing to give it a shot starting in 1980.The French firm set their sights on the mean streets of New York, figuring that if they could make it there, they could make in anywhere and maybe become the next Checker (since that firm had no new product on the horizon and was about to exit the cab manufacturing game in 1982).According to a New York Times article, in 1981 Peugeot brought in 850 diesel 505 taxis and quickly learned that changing the mindsets of cabbies and surviving on the streets of Escape From New York era Manhattan was no easy task. While most found the fuel mileage fantastic, the cost of parts and service negated much of those savings (if they could even find a place to fix them).

Her test for the rise of knowledge about ETFs in the retail market is the cab driver test.“I now find that four out of five cab drivers, a good representative of the flow side, know what ETFs are,” she says.
