Cab or Uber

I have to get to the airport at 5AM from South Philly and was wondering about anybody’s experience with reserving a cab or Uber and which was better?
Top Comment: In my experience it's best to Uber to the airport and use a cab to get home.
Taxi fares

I got a black cab last night at midnight from T2 at Manchester Airport. The meter came ro £38, but the driver charged me £53 and said it was due to nighttime charges. I don't remember ever paying more than the meter when I've been on a night out in Manchester, so is this right?? Is it because it was from the airport, or did the driver just rip me off?? Would Uber be the same??
Top Comment: You pay what’s on the meter, if they try and charge more take a photo of the meter, the drivers/cabs number and report it to the council they’ll soon be investigated by the licensing authority. Always pay on card that way you have proof of what they charged you, as of September last year all black cabs have to accept card payments.
